Strolling Through History

Kim and I spent Saturday in historic Old Towne Portsmouth. We had lunch at the amazing Brutti’s Restaurant. We ate outside since it was so gorgeous.  After lunch we walked the streets of this waterfront enjoying the breathtaking historic homes.  It was an incredible  day.  What brought us here?? Media, Of Course!!

We came to purchase tickets for Ironman 2 at the historic Commodore Theatre.  It’s an amazing venue.  Originally opened in 1945 the art deco style theatre has remained true to its original appearance .  It was reopened in 1987 and restored to it’s former glory.  Stop here.  I am a serious movie venue snob.  It must have a wall to wall screen and the sound must be the best.  Okay, moving on.  I say that because it is only one of two places locally I will watch a film outside of our home theater.

The details.

The screen is 41′ wide by 21′ high and the sound system contains 31 speakers total of which 22 are surround sound. The Commodore sound system was THX certified by the team at George Lucas’ THX group from Cali.

So, you see why all the fuss and the blog post.  Needless to say, it was a great day, turned into an amazing night!

  1. Great post. Storytelling, pictures, technical details about media… all wrapped up in one post.

BTW, I always loved hanging with you & Kim at the Commodore. We’ve got to make a date again real soon.
